I managed to finally get outside and get a hike in after who knows how long it’s been! It was obviously later in the afternoon, and I’d been trying to squeeze one in for quite some time. But given the time of year and all its wonderful obligations, I just haven’t been able to fit one in until yesterday (even after other things I just had to get done!).

And I almost didn’t capture this shot (click for a larger image)!

I try not to take many, if any, shots while I’m hiking, because I want to remain “in the moment” and not be so damned connected to technology, but as I hoofed by and shot a look behind me…momentarily making a turn back to my hike…I whined and took the shot.

Anyway, it was funny that about half of those whom I’d passed had said the same thing: that we were all trying to squeeze in a hike with the last rays of the day. Yes, we were. And we did. And it was glorious!

Glad you managed to get it, Frank — it’s a good one!

Thanks, Paul! The actual view was far more incredible, glowing, and “atmospheric” than that above image displays, but still makes for a great shot.

As much as I love writing, l love to be outside, and it was a gorgeous afternoon. I have so many other cool shots from Garden of the Gods, I really have to post them some day!
